Kerry Sheridan is a journalist with Agence France-Presse. She has covered breaking news and features in Beirut, Jerusalem, Gaza, Nicosia and Amman. She has worked as a Middle East correspondent for Voice of America in Cairo and Tunis, and has written for the Lebanon Daily Star, San Francisco Chronicle and for Irish-American newspapers in New York and San Francisco.

Kerry has studied in France and in Ireland, and received a B.A. in International Studies from American University in Washington, DC. She obtained her graduate degree in journalism from Columbia University in 2002.

“Bagpipe Brothers” is her first book.

Kerry began following the members of the New York City Fire Department Bagpipe Band shortly after September 11, 2001. For the next year, she went with the band members to memorial services and funerals, and spent time with them at their firehouses and at their homes, seeing them in both moments of celebration and moments of mourning.

Kerry's article about the FDNY band's drummer, Durrell "Bronko" Pearsall, who was killed on Sept. 11, was published in the Irish Echo in November, 2001. Her magazine article, “Fathers of Ground Zero: How Three Clergymen Survived the Ultimate Test of Faith,” appeared in Fire Engineering magazine in October, 2002.
